Lady Pointers outlast Redwomen in extra innings for key OVC win

PEDRO — The South Pointers scored four runs in the ninth inning to beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 7-3 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
Kota Copley got the complete game win as she racked up 16 strikeouts while walking two, giving up 10 hits and two earned runs.
South Point (7-4, 1-1) scored four times in the ninth highlighted by Kyleigh Castle’s RBI single and Raygen Yates’ sacrifice fly.
Kaitlyn Evans squeeze bunt scored a run and South Point a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Kaylee Stidham’s triple drove in a run in the third for a 2-0 lead.
Bridgette Stapleton had a two-run double and Alaina Wilds singled home a run in the bottom of the third to give Rock Hill a 3-2 lead.
Kyleigh Castle’s sacrifice bunt drove in a run as the Lady Ponters tied the game 7-3.
Rock Hill (2-7, 1-1) was led at the plate by Bridgette Stapleton who went 2-5 with a double and two RBI. Kylee Brooks was 2-4, Khloe Kline 2-4, Ryleigh Boles 1-5 with a double, Aubrey Malone 1-5 with a double, Alaina Wilds 1-4 with an RBI, and Sami Bamer 1-4 with a double.
Kline pitched a complete game for Rock Hill as she gave up 13 hits, seven earned runs, with five strikeouts and just one walk.
