OLIVE HILL — Both Grayson Kiser and Griffin Fisher combined for 8 runs batted in and Lokelio Ancheta tossed a two-hit shutout to help the Russell Red Devils roll past the West Carter Comets 17-0 in 3 inning mercy rule on Tuesday evening.
The Red Devils wasted little putting a dent in the scoreboard, as they erupted with 9 runs in the opening frame.
Ancheta singled to score a run, Dawson Wada scored on an error to make it 2-0.
Then Fisher singled with one out to score two runs. Noah Finch scored on an error. Kiser doubled to drive in two more runs and later scored on a passed ball to give Russell a commanding 8-0 lead.
After giving up a bunt single, Ancheta retired the next three batters in order to end the inning.
It was much of the same in the second inning, as Russell (6-2) put 9 more across to extend their lead even more.
Ancheta retired six-straight batters to close out the game.
The Red Devils had nine hits with Anchete 2-2 with a triple and three RBI, Kiser was 1-2 with four RBI, Fisher 1-3 with four RBI, Dawson Wada went 2-3 with two RBI, Jacob Tolliver went 1-3 with an RBI, Jayden Frasure went 1-2 and Layne Paxson went 1-1.
Anchete went the full three innings, allowing just a pair of hits and fanned 7 of the 11 batters he faced to pick up his second win of the season.
Brody Boggs and Trip Lemaster registered the lone hits for West Carter (2-4).
Tackett took the loss for the Comets.
