5th inning rally helps Lady Pointers roll past Lady Highlanders

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The South Point Lady Pointers are making a little more noise each time they play.

After a 14-4 win over Raceland on Monday, the Lady Pointers came back with a 10-2 win over the Huntington Lady Highlanders on Tuesday as they improved to 5-1 on the season.

Kota Copley pitched a two-hitter, struck out 10 and walked three as she got the five inning complete game win.

The Lady Pointers pounded out 12 hits led by Kaylee Stidham who was 2-3 with a home run and three runs batted in.

However, there were plenty more hitters.

Copley was 2-4 with an RBI, Kyleigh Castle 2-2 with a double and two RBI, Raygen Yates 2-4 with a double and an RBI, Chloe West 1-2, Kaitlyn Evans 1-2 with an RBI, Natilyn Spears 1-3 and Adyson Copley 1-4.

Riley Hedrick was 1-2 with a home run and Ellie Fei was 1-2 with a double and an RBI for Huntington (2-0).

Hendrick's solo shot to right field tied the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth.

In the top of the fifth, the Lady Pointers rallied with 8 runs to take the lead for good.

Adyson Copley singled to begin the inning and later scored on a steal two batters later. Then Yates singled to score a run. Nixon Johnson stole home and Evans drew a walk with the bases loaded and Yates scored to make the score 6-2.

Later in the inning, Kota Copley singled to drive home another run and Stidham drew a walk, scoring a run. Then Castle hit a two-out double to scratch two more runs across to give South Point a 10-2 advantage.

In the bottom of the frame, Kota Copley retired the side in order to get the win.
