3-run rally in 7th inning gives Dragons comeback win

WEST PORTSMOUTH — The Fairland Dragons gave a lesson in how to close a game.
Trailing by a run going into the top of the seventh, the Dragons put together a 3-run rally and topped the Portsmouth West Senators 6-4 in a non-league game on Saturday.
The Dragons began their winning rally with one out.
Chase Lapole singled, stole second and scored on a double by Josh Gillespie. Nolan Fleming, Cyrus Cummins and Eli Pine all followed with RBI singles.
West (0-1) had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Isaak Tipton and Levi Pickelsimer and Zane Pitts all reached on errors.
The Dragons tied the game at 2-all in the third.
Tanner Brown singled, moved to third on a balk and a wild pitch and scored on a balk.
Lapole singled, stole second and went to third on a throwing error and scored on a hit by Fleming.
The Senators took a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning with a pair of runs.
Drew Dettwiller singled, Easton Simpson walked, Windsor put down a sacrifice bunt and Tipton doubled the runners home.
Fairland (1-2) got a run in the sixth when Cummings reached on an error, moved up when Mac Clark was safe on an error and scored on a wild pitch.
Brown went the final three innings for the win. He did not allow a hit or a run while striking out five with no walks.
Fleming and Cole Brown were 2-4 with an RBI and Lapole was 2-3 as Fairland outhit West 10-4.
