Bobcats get pair of wins over Indians, Comets

FRANKLIN FURNACE — West was a good direction to go for the Green Bobcats.

The Bobcats picked up a couple of wins as they beat the Western Indians 11-1 in five innings and then topped the West Carter (Ky.) Comets 5-4 in games last week.

In a Southern Ohio Conference game Tuesday, Green banged out 11 hits to back the pitching the 4-hit pitching of Brennan Renison.

Western (1-13, 0-7) got an unearned run in the top of the first but Green came back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning when Mason Neal walked, moved up on a balk and Jon Knapp singled.

The Bobcats (14-1, 4-1) took the lead with 3 runs in the second inning.

Uriah Satterfield reached on an error, Noah McMackin singled, Conner Blanton grounded out as a run scored, Kase McIntyre walked and Neal had a 2-run single.

Hits by McIntyre, Riddick Jenkins, Gabe Blevins and Knapp produced 2 runs in the fifth inning and it was 6-1.

Green ended the game early in the fifth with 5 more runs.

Satterfield singled, stole second and third and McMackin hit a sacrifice fly for the first run.

Neal walked and Jenkins, Blevins and Knapp all followed with hits to finish off the win.

Renison struck out 3, walked 2 and the lone run was unearned.

Knapp was 3-4 with 4 runs batted in to pace the offense. Jenkins was 2-4 with 2 RBI, Neal 1-2 with 2 RBI, McMackin 1-1 with an RBI, McIntyre 1-1, Satterfield 1-3 and Blevins and Renison 1-4.

OLIVE HILL — Green scored a run in the seventh inning to snap a 4-4 tie and come away with a 5-4 non-league win.

Knapp doubled to lead off the seventh inning, moved up on a passed ball and came home on a hit by McMackin.

West Carter (3-11) got a pair of walks in the bottom of the inning but were left stranded as reliever Riddick Jenkins got a force out at third base.

The Comets went up 1-0 in the second, but Green got 3 runs in the third.

Neal was hit by a pitch, Jenkins walked and Blevins and Knapp singled for 2 runs and McMackin hit into a double play as the final run scored.

The Bobcats scored a run in the top of the fifth to lead 4-1on walked to Blevins and Knapp and McMackin’s groundout.

West Carter tied the game in the bottom of the inning on two errors, a double by Graham English and a hit by Eli Hancock.

Kase McIntyre started for Green and went 5 innings giving up 5 hits, 4 runs of which only 2 were earned, with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks. Jenkins finished for the win as he gave up one hit, no runs, struck out 3 and walked one.

Knapp was 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Neal went 1-2, Jenkins, Blevins, McMackin and McIntyre all 1-3, and Satterfield 1-4. McMackin had 3 RBI and Jenkins hit a double.
