Lady Pointers pile up 14 hits in win over Lady Hornets

SOUTH POINT — Kota Copley doesn’t just pitch, she can hit, too.
Copley pitched a 7-hitter and went 4-for-4 at the play with 2 doubles and 2 runs batted in as the South Point Lady Pointers beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 8-5 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
Copley struck out 6, walked 2 and only 3 of the runs were earned as she got the complete game win.
South Point (11-5, 5-2) had 14 hits and Copley wasn’t the only player with a big game. Kaylee Stidham was 2-3 with a pair of doubles and she drove home 4 runs.
Kyleigh Castle was 2-2 with a double, Adyson Copley 2-4 with an RBI, Brinly Stamper 2-3, Chloe West 1-3 and Natilyn Spears 1-4.
Coal Grove (7-10, 6-3) was paced by Kendall Taylor who was 3-3 with two doubles. Kasey Vanderhoof went 1-3 with an RBI, Rylee Bare 1-2, Addy Wilson 1-4 with an RBI and Izzy Kitts was 1-4.
The Lady Pointers took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth when Copley doubled into center to score two runs to make it 6-4.
Adyson helped add an insurance run in the sixth with an RBI single and Stidham doubled to drive in the final run for South Point and make it 8-4.
Coal Grove tried to rally with two outs, as Kasey Vanderhoof singled in a run. However, the following batter flied out to Kaitlyn Evans to end the game.
