Perkins, Panthers knock down Oaks, head back to Convo

CHESAPEAKE — On to the Convo. Again.

The Chesapeake Panthers rolled past the Oak Hill Oaks 56-30 on Tuesday to earn another trip to Ohio University’s Convocation Center.

Chesapeake (20-3) will play Wellston at 6:15 p.m. Monday in the Division 5 district semifinals.

The Panthers started slow but methodically pulled away the rest of the game as Kaden Perkins scored 20 points and Karson Frecka scored 13 to lead the winning effort.

Frecka scored 7 of the Panthers 9 points in the first quarter as they took a 9-3 lead.

Six different players scored for the Panthers in the second quarter with Perkins netting 4 points and the lead grew to 24-11 at the half.

Philip Thacker was 4-of-4 at the foul line and scored 6 points, Perkins hit a 3-pointer and had 5 points while Maddox Kazee got 4 points as Chesapeake extended the spread to 41-17 in the third quarter.

Perkins took control in the fourth quarter as he hit another 3-pointer and scored 9 of Chesapeake’s 15 points.

Grant Walker scored 5 points for the Oaks while Mason Malone and Will Morgan each hit 3-pointers in the quarter.

Malone had 9 points to pace the Oaks (7-15).
