12 Local Players Make OPMA All-Ohio Girls Basketball Teams

Forget the Dirty Dozen. This is the Dandy Dozen.
A total of 12 local girls had the talents to make the Ohio Prep Media Association’s All-Ohio basketball teams announced on Monday.
Leading the group is Fairland Lady Dragons’ 5-foot-8 senior guard Kamryn Barnitz who was a third team selection in Division 5.
Barnitz — who will play at West Florida — averaged 12.5 points a game for a balanced offense and helped the Lady Dragons reach the state semifinals.
Also named to the Div. 5 third team was Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ 5-7 senior guard Lola Hankins who averaged 18.5 points per game.
Named to the Special Mention list was Fairland’s 6-foot junior guard Addison Godby who averaged 10.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game along with Chesapeake Lady Panthers’ 5-6 senior guard Kate Ball who averaged 15.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.2 steals per contest. Ball was an excellent 3-point shooter.
Selected to the Div. 5 Honorable Mention list were Fairland’s 5-8 junior guard Bailey Russell who averaged 16.0 points a game and 3.7 assists, Ironton’s 5-7 senior guard Emerson White who averaged 13.2 points a game, and Rock Hill Redwomen 5-10 senior forward J’lynn Risner who averaged 14.2 points and 10 rebounds a game. Risner had more than 900 rebounds for her career.
South Point Lady Pointers’ 5-9 senior forward Saratina Jackson was an Honorable Mention selection in Division 4 as she averaged 11.5 points and 9.0 rebounds a game.
In Division 6, Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ 5-9 sophomore forward Jenna Anson was Honorable Mention as she averaged 12.3 and 9.3 rebounds a contest.
In Division 7, Green Lady Bobcats’ 6-1 sophomore center Abbie Knapp was a first team selection as she scored 27 points a game to go with 11.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per outing.
Named Honorable Mention was Symmes Valley Lady Vikings’ 5-7 senior Kaitlyn Maynard who averaged 13 points and 9 rebounds a game along with Green’s 5-3 sophomore point guard Matti Hayslip who averaged 13.6 points and 4.1 assists while shooting 39 percent from 3-point range.
Portsmouth’s Amy Hughes was named the Division 5 Coach of the Year as she guided the team to the state championship.
The Lady Trojans Sienna Allen was first team, Daysha Reid third team and Hayven Carter and Keke Woods were honorable mention.
