Early scoring barrage helps Lady Dragons past Lady Tigers, keep pace in OVC race

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons got a shutout from goalkeeper McKaila Thomas as they blanked the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 4-0 on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Fairland (6-3-2, 5-0-1) scored first when Yardley Gorby's free kick snuck in between the crossbar and the reach of Ironton's goal keeper just 19 seconds into the game to give the Lady Dragons all the goals they really needed.
The Lady Dragons scored again less than a minute later when Maddie Cornwell fed a pass from the left sideline to Macy Auxier along the left side of the box and Auxier's shot from the top of the box found the top corner on the backside of the net to make it 2-0.
Reese Rice pushed the lead to 3-0 when Cornwell made a cross pass in front of the net and Rice was able to pull the trigger and put the ball in from the left side at the 21:15 mark.
Auxier scored her second goal when she got behind the defense and was able to get a 1-versus-1 attempt and made good on her chance with 35:09 on the clock to cap the scoring.
Ironton fell to 1-8 and 1-4 in the OVC.
Ironton 0 0 = 0
Fairland 4 0 = 4
