PEDRO — There was no rain. Just lighting.

Trailing 7-0, the Portsmouth Trojans scored with lightning quickness as they beat the Rock Hill Redmen 48-7 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.

Rock Hill (6-2, 3-1) took a 7-0 lead on an 11-yard run by Brady Murrell with 5:12 left in the first quarter to cap a 62-yard drive in just 6 plays.

But the Trojans (5-3, 3-2) answered in just 2 players and Marquez Locklear hit Camron Williams with a swing pass and Williams broke a couple of tackles as he went down the sidelines for a 48-yard pass play.

Jacob Roth kicked the conversion to tie the game with 2:15 on the clock.

There was more lightning to come.

Portsmouth came up with an interception and on the first play Locklear threw a screen pass to Trevin Brooks who ran 34 yards to the 2-yard line.

Locklear scored on the next play and it was 13-7.

Rock Hill fumbled on its second play after the kickoff and Williams picked up the ball and ran 20 yards for the score.

Willams threw to Brooks for the conversion and it was 21-7 with just 33 seconds left in the first quarter.

There was more lightning striking to start the second quarter as Rock Hill punted on the third play of the quarter.
