Green gets 28 from Knapp to get key league win over Flyers

IRONTON — Could be that American Sniper Carl Oliver has some competition.


The Green Bobcats connected on10 shots from behind the long-distance line as they beat the St. Joseph Flyers 52-34 in a Southern Ohio Conference-1 game on Friday.


Jon Knapp hit six 3-pointers as he scored 28 points to lead the Bobcats (6-7, 3-1).


Barreett Waginger hit a trifecta and scored 5 points, Zane Dressel drilled a triple and Carson Willis had 4 points as the Flyers took a 12-11 first quarter lead.


Green got a pair of 3-pointers from Knapp while Riddick Jenkins also had a trey.


But the Bobcats turned the tables in the second quarter by outscoring the Flyers 18-7 to take a 29-19 halftime lead.


Knapp buried two more 3-pointers and scored 8 points with Jenkins and Jacob Sampson adding 3-pointers for the Bobcats.


Beckham Waginger had 4 points for the Flyers (4-8,2-2).


The Bobcats continued to pull away in the third quarter as Knapp got the hot hand and scored 12 points including two more 3-pointers to make the spread 44-28.


Willis knocked down a 3-pointer and had 5 points for the Flyers.


Willis led the Flyers with 16 points and 5 rebounds.
