Lady Vikings Turn Back Ravenswood

PEDRO — A good start meant a good result.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings jumped in front in the first quarter and stayed in front en route to a 40-29 win over the Ravenswood Lady Red Devils on Saturday in the Rock Hill Hardwood on the Hill

Symmes Valley (2-8) took a 14-5 first quarter lead as Lydia Saunders scored 7 of her 9 points and Kaitlin Maynard had the other 7 points.

The Lady Vikings were able to use a 7-0 scoring spurt in final two minutes of the quarter to build up a lead. During the scoring run, Kaitlin Maynard scored twice from short range and Saunders converted 3 free throws.

Kadi Price hit a 3-pointer and Riley Street scored for Ravenswood (4-6).

Symmes Valley was able to extend their lead further when Kaitlin Maynard found her sister Kayley on a backdoor cut for a layup for a 16-5 lead early in the second.

Kayley Maynard scored 6 points and Brenna Tibbs made a pair of free throws as the Lady Vikings went up 22-12 at the half.

Street scored 5 points and Price 2 for the Lady Red Devils.

Kaitlin Maynard scored 6 points and Tibbs 4 and the lead was 33-22 after three quarters.

Emily Andrade and Price each hit 3-pointers for the Lady Red Devils.

Riley Loudenburg got all 3 of her points in the fourth quarter with Saunders and Kaitlin Maynard adding 2 points each.

Rachel Lambert had 4 of Ravenswood’s 7 points.

Kaitlin Maynard scored 15 points to lead the Lady Vikings.
